Bespoke tiles for Nanushka

2023

Nanushka presented a `Kopjafa` collection inspired by Hungarian heritage at London Craft Week in 2023. The collection featured clothing and accessories adorned with motifs from traditional Székely kopjafa carvings, which are wooden totems traditionally used as grave markers. Nanushka's founder, Sándor Szandra, aimed to showcase Hungarian culture and the brand's identity through this contemporary interpretation of the ancient craft.

There have been over 1700 tiles handcrafted for the surrounding area. These tiles not only embody contemporary design but also reflect cultural significance, merging artistry with traditional heritage. This collaboration showcases the craftsmanship and innovation that define this remarkable piece, highlighting the role of design in telling a story.Photo credits: Nanushka team and Hype and Hyper Press
